KI-Kompass is a card game that delves into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Players take on the role of AI experts who have to decide which problems can really be solved by AI systems. The game challenges players to identify which tasks are suitable for AI and which are best tackled without it, promoting a realistic understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations in our society.

KI-Kompass is designed for 3 to 5 players aged 12 and over, with a playing time of 20 to 40 minutes per session. It includes background information on AI in its instruction manual, making it an educational tool as well as a source of entertainment. It is designed to provide an interactive learning experience about the role of AI in society.

KI-Kompass was developed in cooperation with the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Neuland & Gestalten and Büro für Sinn und Unsinn. This initiative is part of a research project focused on creating accessible educational resources to explain AI, involving both experts and the public.

The game is available in German as an Open Educational Resource (OER) under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence. It can be downloaded for self-printing (10.5281/zenodo.8298172) or professional printing (10.5281/zenodo.8298281), and efforts are underway to distribute professionally printed copies.
